SEADS Academy: learner terms and privacy notice
Version 1.9, in force from 7 November 2026. This text covers what SEADS Academy offers today: lessons, saved work, SQL labs, organizations and account deletion. We publish new sections when new features are released.
Part A: Learner terms
A1. Who we are
SEADS Academy at edu.seads.io is provided by APIOU Company LTD., doing business as SEADS Technology, a single-member limited liability company registered in the State of Ohio, United States ("SEADS", "we"). These terms apply to you as a learner and to the organization (business or school) that enrols you, if any.
A2. Who can learn
SEADS Academy is for adults: you must be 18 or older. Minors are not accepted. You sign in with a SEADS account.
A3. On your own, or through an organization
- On your own (personal organization): you own your account and your saved work.
- Through a business or school: the organization invites you and decides your access. Its educators can see your saved work and results to teach you; its administrators see your progress and results, not your work. Your access ends when the organization ends it.
A4. Free early access and labs
SEADS Academy is in free early access: you do not pay to use it. Each organization (a learner on their own counts as their own organization) can run labs for up to 2 hours a month, shared by all its learners; the allowance resets on the 1st of each month (UTC). We may change the allowance, or end early access, with 30 days' notice.
Labs run your code in an isolated environment. Run only code meant for the exercise. No attacks, no attempts to leave the lab, no mining, no use of the lab for other work. We may stop a lab that breaks these rules.
A5. Honest work
Your submissions must be your own work, except where an exercise allows help.
A6. Your work and our content
You keep the rights in the code and answers you write. You allow us to store, run and show them as the service needs (saving, labs, your organization's educators). Lessons and exercises belong to SEADS; you may use them for your own learning, not copy or resell them.
A7. Ending, changes, law
You can delete your saved work, or your SEADS account, at any time (Part B). We announce a change to these terms 30 days before it takes effect. Liability, governing law (Ohio) and disputes are as in the SEADS AI terms. Contact: support@seads.io (questions), legal@seads.io (legal notices).

Part B: Privacy notice
B1. Roles
- SEADS decides (controller) for your sign-in, personal learning and security records.
- For learners enrolled by a business or school, the organization is the controller of its learners' records for its own purposes (training), and SEADS acts as its processor under the SEADS data processing agreement.
B2. What we collect

We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
B3. Why we use it
To teach you, run your labs, show your educators your progress when you learn through an organization, keep the service secure, and meet legal duties.
B4. Who receives it
SEADS BUILD (runs your labs and sees only anonymous codes for your organization and you, never a name or account number); OVH US LLC, doing business as OVHcloud (hosting, Canada and the United States); Hetzner Online GmbH (encrypted backups, Germany); your organization's educators and administrators (A3).
B4a. Where it is kept
Your data is kept on servers in Canada (Beauharnois); the labs and the sign-in service run in the United States (Oregon), and files uploaded to SEADS AI are in the United States (Virginia). Mail runs on SEADS's own mail server in Canada; encrypted backups are in the European Union (Germany). If you live outside Canada and the United States (for example in the European Union, the United Kingdom or Burkina Faso), your data is therefore transferred to Canada and to the United States, and you can ask us for a copy of the safeguard; where the law requires a safeguard, we rely on standard contractual clauses or an equivalent approved mechanism.

You can delete your saved work at any time with "Delete my saved work" (all of it for a personal learner; practice work not yet assessed if enrolled by an organization).
B6. Your rights, cookies, contact
You can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and portability, and complain to the data protection authority of your country. Cookies: a secure sign-in session cookie (signs you out after 30 minutes idle or 8 hours) and a short-lived cookie (5 minutes) used only while you sign in; your language choice in your browser's storage.
